Ipswich Central State School was founded in 1861, so is well and truly a part of Ipswich’s proud history. Today the school has approximately 700 students enrolled who come from many of the surrounding suburbs of Ipswich. Ipswich Central has a great reputation in the Ipswich community built over many years as a result of a clear focus of improving the outcomes for all our students. The school has a range of academic, cultural, sporting and music programs that meets the needs and interests of our students.
Our fine reputation is well-deserved. We have a long and continuing history of academic excellence, visible today in the results of national testing and the quality of our student support programs. We value discipline and good manners and have a compulsory uniform policy endorsed by our P&C Association. At Central today, our aim is to widen our tradition of excellence to encompass new learnings and methodologies. Our educational programs are progressive and holistic in approach. We offer all students the opportunity to participate in a balanced program of academic, social, physical and cultural learning.
Our enrichment programs encourage students to demonstrate their talents in sport, academic subject areas, leadership, team participation, instrumental music, choral programs and other interest areas. Our curriculum is constantly monitored and improved and we are developing innovative and exciting units of work to promote higher order thinking. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are integral to all subject areas and we have state-of-the-art ICT facilities available to all students. Our school caters for the diverse needs of all learners and has an inclusive approach to the education of all students.
Ipswich Central State School provides high quality resources and services. Our students, families and staff are our primary and most valued resource. I invite you to become a member of our school community and share your vision for your child’s educational future here at Central.
