Ipswich Central State School encourages active participation between the school, parents and local community. This partnership enables our school community to work together towards providing the best possible supportive environment for your child and their learning.

There is a wide range of ways to participate in your child’s education.

Volunteers

Classroom support

Parents are regularly invited to be involved in class activities both inside and outside the classroom. This may involve classroom rosters for reading and maths groups, art activities, excursions etc.

Library

Our librarian regularly invites parents to assist with library resources e.g. covering, sorting and shelving books.

Learning support

To enhance learning support programs, parents may be invited to assist with programs coordinated by our support teacher. Additional training will provided where required.

Tuckshop

Our tuckshop operations rely on parent volunteers to assist in the preparation and selling of tuckshop items. See our Tuckshop page for more information.

Any volunteer who is not a direct parent or guardian of children at the school must hold a current Blue Card through the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian.  Volunteers are asked to sign in at the school office and wear an identification badge whilst on site.

Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C)

The P&C Association enjoys regular discussions and planning sessions to promote fundraising activities for the benefit of our children’s education. The parent body provides significant financial support to the school through both direct monetary curriculum support and through significant projects. Some of their recent projects include various landscaping and playground projects and air conditioning. Other activities include supporting school functions e.g.. concerts, sports days etc. and coordinating our bi-annual school fete.

All parents are invited to become members of the P&C Association by completing a membership form and become involved in P&C activities.

Meetings are open to all parents/carers and are held in week 3 and 8 of each term  from 5:30 - 7:00pm in the staffroom.
